So far, on all my devices, I've preferred to append Series info to the end of Author rather than to the beginning of Title, as I prefer to have all lists/Shelves/Collections sorted by Author/Series/number.

Me too. I had shelves working on the Kobo Mini with collections in about 5 minutes just using your plugboard for the Sony with the device changed.
