I wouldn't discount the difference between the touch screen feature and the lack of one on the older models. I have the Kobo wireless and when I first got it, it did not have any way of going to a selected page. You had to just keep hitting the D-pad to page through each page until you got to the one you wanted. Eventually they upgraded the software to have a goto page option, but it's not exactly easy to use either. You hit menu, goto, then use the d pad to select each number of the page you want to goto and hit go. I'm not sure if the original Kobo had that software upgrade or not, I have the wireless.

Now, if you're the type that's not important to, no big deal. I read quite a few history books though and they have appendices and such. The Kobo wireless does not have a feature to allow you to just click on those and go to the page to read them, you have to go through the process I just described. I haven't played with the Kobo touch or newer models, but I would imagine that with a touch screen this process would be a lot easier to do.
