how to avoid non alfanumeric characters inside Calibre folder?

Greetings,

I have ONE issue with the folders and files in the Calibre library. No, I do not want to change its structure! I HAVE read the post titled "Want to change the folder structure of the Calibre library?" at
https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=119175 and understand the point.

I don't care how Calibre structures files and folders in its library, or which names it chooses.

My ONLY question about this is: can I just tell Calibre to use ONLY alfanumeric characters plus dash and underscore for all those folder and file names, avoiding parentheses, spaces and what not? I haven't recognized any option in the user interface to do it. I would be willing to hack the code, if I had the right pointers to where and what to change.

Having files and folder names without "weird" characters would be really great for me, as it would let me keep unchanged the many scripts I already run for backups and other administrative tasks, and also guarantee that I can move the whole library to many filesystems, online storage, physical media, whatever without any "library rebuilding" or similar manual operations.

If it matters, I'm using Calibre 0.8.33 on Linux

Thanks in advance for any feedback,
Marco
