I feel for you and I have a similar problem: I keep touching the top right half to turn pages, and get the stupid menu in the way. I wish they had a narrower top touch area for the menu, because it is driving me nuts.
I love my PW, but I really, really hope that they will add page turn areas to the bezel of the next PW iteration. I like the touch screen, just not for turning pages.

Also, with the Amazon case around it, I find it a bit easier to hold, as it gives the bezel a bit more grip.
