I tried the manual replacement of images, but even then they were getting vertically stretched on the Home Screen. If you look at the image in my previous post (the last one)—the cover for Leviathan Wakes was manually placed onto the Kobo with a size of 600*800, yet it's still vertically stretched on the screen.

Really, at this point, it doesn't look like there's an easy fix, so I'll just have to live with the stretched covers. I mean, if books purchased from the Kobo store do it, that just might be the way it works.

I have a theory. In the past, Home Screen images were perfect ratio images—now, if you check their scale, when you scale the width to 600px, the height is about 869px (I can't remember the exact number). As well, the covers look correct at this new size as it's closer to a "physically" book cover size, and the images used on the Sleep screen are actually squished to fit (you can tell by looking at the Os in words, or comparing to the read printed books). So, I have a feeling Kobo is moving to this new size for book cover and the images on the Sleep screen will be slightly squished (because of the "fill screen" option).

Most of the time it's not super noticeable, but on something like the Steve Jobs bio, it's really obvious because the cover is his face—and distorting a face is a very obvious thing when it's done, even if done slightly.

That's just my opinion though...
