I too have been a SONY Reader buyer over the years. I've always praised Sony to all my friends.

When the Paperwhite came out I was immediately interested because finally Amazon came out with a black bezel frame that I liked and the background lighting interested me. I never liked their original white Kindles and the grey ones were a little nicer but Sony alway won out. The Sony T-1 downfall for me was reading all year with the black shiny bezel. The T-2 took care of that, but the Paperwhite was one step ahead of the game for the same price. So I bought into the Amazon market. I love the Paperwhite.

The real advantage I have discovered is when I am walking into the subway or a darken area, I can keep reading. I now find myself reading in areas where the light is was not enough for me to even bother pulling out my reader (say for example in a theater before the movie starts).

Trust me, I LOVE Sony but I am also a lover of gadgets. If next years model has more potential... I will move back to Sony... but in the meantime I'll be happily reading with my Paperwhite.
