Typical 2.0 USB computer ports output only 500mA compared to a USB wall charger that will output between 900mA to 1,000mA.

It does definitely charge faster when plugged into a USB wall charger. Anybody who has tried to charge a smartphone plugged into a USB computer port vs. the USB wall charger have experienced it...

Now, the Kobo battery isn't as big so the difference between wall charger and computer port won't be as dramatic but still, a USB wall charger will charge faster and is more convenient as you can plug anywhere there is a wall socket. Add on top of it that USB wall chargers can be had for a few dollars on eBay with free shipping, and it's hard not getting equipped with one since they can also be used for lots of other electronic devices.
