Probably won't work but easy enough to retore your configuration directory if it doesn't.

Another suggestion, really flailing now, is to create several columns and see if any of them stick. Maybe create an empty database(s) for this purpose one with copy structure ticked and one without so you can delete at will with no worries.

Custom column info is part of Metadata.db and not the configuration (different Libraries can have different columns) folder.
