@mcrmam: When reading the book, bring up the book menu (tap middle of screen, or bottom of screen depending on settings) then click the first of the 4 icons in a row; the book with the turned down page.
On this menu you will see Annotations. Tap that option and you will see bookmarks and annotations in the book.
