i am beginning to wonder whether i have it. sometimes at night i hear a very high-pitched tone, which makes me think of a noise an electronic device would make (i don't know *which* device). usually i blame the neighbors (they are after all collectively the root of all evil) and wait for them to turn off the telly and go to bed. but perhaps it is in my own ears. i have gone to a *lot* of very loud concerts without any ear protection (i have some now. i guess i'm getting old. or slightly less stupid. i bought them at the birdy nam nam concert a few months ago, and thank god for that). i usually had a sort of rushing sound in my ears after those, which was not the same as that strange high-pitched tone, but probably was not a good thing.

what is tinnitis like, exactly ?
