That may be so, but the process should be as follows:

1.- install the android SDK (here). Truth be told you don't need the full SDK, you only need a few binaries
2.- connect your nook to the PC
3.- type "adb install <myapp.apk>"

You have to ensure the SDK tools are on the path. When people start getting their nook HD(+) we'll confirm whether this works, but it should, as long as you can enable ADB on the settings screen.
