I thought I'd chime in to add another data point to this discussion. I tried my Motorola cell phone charger, which outputs 5.0 V == 550 mA via a mini USB connection. It did not charge the PRS-505. I left it connected for about 30 minutes, and the battery indicator went from 3 bars to 2 bars indicating that the battery was discharging, not recharging.
