Closer... but no cigar.

I'll add a hint; We took a three hour bus ride from the coast. Then we took a motorized 15-person canoe up-river for about 6 hours, to a confluence of three rivers, where upon we switched to a smaller 4-person motorized canoe for another three hours. At that point we were let off at a jungle 'general store' selling kerosene, ropes, machetes, tinned foods, beer and... KitKat bars! Go figure!?! At the point I began trekking with the friend I'd met the week before in a remote scuba diving venue... a small island 50km off the coast.
