I will get a 7" or 8" tablet the day they come out with a screen that makes me want to replace my e-ink. But now I use my tablet for browsing, magazines, newspapers, videos -- all tasks even a 10" can be too small for.

As far as portability goes I don't see any difference. For me portability means "fits in the front pockets of my jeans", and with virtually no bezel 6" would be the limit for that --- perfect size for a phone. Now when I carry a bag or briefcase I can carry the 10" just as well as the 7".

So for now I have no use for a 7" device whatsoever. Over 5-10 years hopefully we will have new shapes, foldable, rollable, whatever that help us overcome these limitations.
