Where do you live?
You talked about Adobe Digital Editions which is for epub format ebooks NOT kindle books. Are you going to be using your college library long term? Check what is available in public libraries where you live. As far as I know, outside the US most libraries do not loan kindle format ebooks, they lend epubs... If you're in the US then pick whatever. Looks like you have enough info apart from that to make your decision so good luck.
