Yeah the whole thing about it not showing up in Manage My Kindle seems very suspicious. It sounds like they grabbed a returned unit and threw it into a box without even assigning it to your account. If I were you I would be on the phone teaching them a few new curse words!
Actually I did that when they shanked my refund.
Out of curiosity did you do a factory reset earlier? Just curious if that would make it display properly on your Manage My Kindle page.
