Calibre

Hi,

Have learned a lot within the space of a single day on scheduling automated downloads of newspapers via Calibre to my Kindle. Everything works fine. With one exception.

Background:
- Am following a number of journalists whose pieces I try to consult as soon as they appear online. Here are two examples:

1/ http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisf...curity-liberty

2/ http://www.independent.co.uk/biography/robert-fisk

- 1/ has an RSS feed, 2/ does not.

- Added both pages in Calibre using the "Add custom news source" panel.

- Then scheduled (daily) downloads for both.

- Calibre performed the downloads as scheduled, converted the documents to MOBI and sent them to my Kindle (version keyboard, 2011).

PROBLEM:

The downloaded document is not readable -- neither on Kindle nor in Calibre. It's a scrambled mess of xml codes or whatever, but not the kind of beautiful, structure one gets with prefabricated recipes available via Calibre.

Now I wonder what went wrong or what steps I failed to perform. I think the answer lies in augmenting the recipe with code doing some conversion job to make the fetched page readable.

Have been looking for solutions here and elsewhere but to no avail. That's surprising because automated downloading of individual pages that are not included in prefabricated recipes is a practicality that should appeal to most users.

Many thanks in advance.
