It doesn't take too long. I first try Box.net for this. Very bad idea. It took 1 week to upload 8GB Then each time it syncs it took 2 Days and each time I add a file it took hours to update the index.

Dropbox took 3 hours to upload 8GB so I have no complaints. It syncs in under a minute and it isn't a hog on my resources. Dropbox isn't expensive. I've never paid a penny. I have 19GB of space that I got mostly through their referral program.

I do it a bit differently I sync my Calibre library from it's original location to my Dropbox using a sync program. This is due to me losing two hard drives in the last year. My main library is on my external. I take no chances.
