From 2.1.4, the covers for books on the SD card are no longer stored anywhere. They are generated on the fly.

Book details are still stored in the onboard database but they are no longer removed when the SD card is removed. They get removed when the SD card is put back in and the books aren't on it. So, if you put remove that card with 10000 books on it, add one book and put it back in, the processing will be a lot quicker.
