Persistancy among Removed or Moved records

Dear Sirs,
am quite unaware whether this issue has been already addressed in this forum.
I noticed that there are cases in which folders have been NOT removed from a library by Calibre whenever they should have.
This may happen when one moves books from a library to another (e.g. to merge) or renames a record by changing Author and/or Title.
At beginnings I thought they were books failed being moved but soon realised they are just not removed when they should and therefore are just unwanted duplicates.
This situation adds a lot of confusion to the library management and it took me sometimes to localise empty or redundant folders among thousands and remove them by hand, thus violating the first principle of Calibre, i.e. not to touch the content of a library.
Is this issue known to the developers?
Thanks for your attention
