You're right. Who knows. I don't. Perhaps they will send a $250 rebate to all Sony reader owners (both 500 505). This is about as logical IMHO as that they will update the 500 software when they said they wouldn't (no just scratch everything after software). I quit believing in Santa Clause & Sony.
