I generally agree with Uschiekid - i prefer the greyer background when unlit and only turn on the light when in a dimmer (or other less than ideal lighting) environment. Same reason I prefer to read sepia or white on black on my iphone and not a white background.
I sit in front of a computer all day for work and definitely find the greyer background easier on my eyes....
