cancel the bulk overwriting of the "author" , possible or not?

Hi,
maybe it's not polite to start with an help cry, but ... such is life.
As I am using calibre for quite a few weeks I am found of it und wouldn't know how to structure my ebooks and using it with my kindle.

Maybe you can help me: here is my problem.

In a moment of not paying enough attention, I marked 5400 books instead of the needed 1600 and replaced the author in the basic-metadata section and clicked on button: auto-sort put automatically.

I didn't change the cover fortunately, so I still can find the originally author and replace it manually.
But imagine: replacing 3800 items is just too much.

by the way, where do I change the language of the program into English in case I need it? at the moment I'm using German language.
I'm using version 0.9.2

thank you very much in advance.

hello friends,

I proudly can tell you that I solved my problem by trying out something different today!!

I converted an original file (in zip-mode) to a .mobi file, because I found out that the mobi file will keep the original author information and not the later added information. (maybe the .zip file does the same, but I didn't try out).

I copied the .mobi files to an seperate file, and deleted the originals in calibre.

then I imported the .mobi-files - and voila - they all had only the original author information documented.

this I did with about 3000 files, because I had changed the information for the other about 500 files before - one by one.
