I'm not sure how well that would work because of the way the back snaps in. It's slightly smaller than the Mini itself and has a couple of protruding plastic clips that go into holes in the back of the Mini's casing. The snap backs are constructed exactly the same as the black or silver originals. Plus they're $20, not cheap!
Amazon.com has a lot more choice in GPS cases than the ÇA site (and cheaper) but they don't let me purchase as am not in US or I would have gotten this one below, which is rigid and comes in 8 colours... For $12!
