The PRS-500 is a legacy product, I doubt anyone at Sony is actively working on the PRS-500 and it will therefore never see another software update.

PRS-500 owners got what they paid for, but Sony's policy of not being forthcoming about software updates is one factor worth considering when deciding what to buy next. Sony has known from the very beginning that Adobe DE would not run on the PRS-500, and could not run given the software's minimum hardware requirements. Even after DE is released on the PRS-505, they still won't come out and say this directly.
