PDF's post firmware upgrade
Well I've finally been able to do the update. From a PDF view point, at least in my case, the results are marginal. Documents which are very basic text and single column with an odd photo seem to turn out ok. I am thankful.
Going beyond that though and its a mixed bag. YMMV, but for me, I want to be able to read scientific papers, primarily physics preprints from Arxiv. 'Reflow' seems not to be able to properly connect sentences, you end up with a lot of
kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkxxxxxxxxxxxxx x
kkkkkkkkkkkkk
kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkx
kkkkkkkkkkkxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
you get the idea
On the other hand, at least the font size is readable. But i think for
all but the shortest of papers this will get irritating very quickly.
The further drawback is that figures and tables are toast on anythign
but the original 's' size. They don't even show up except for a few
labels out of place.
I guess for preprints I will have to stick to getting the latex source
(when avail) and then generate appropriately sized pdfs. While
that works, the time involved usually translates to printing the
paper out and reading it the old fashioned way.
