you cannot resist. you must have ALL the tom waits albums (especially that one !). emotional weather report, that song / poem is just a masterpiece !

i think i want to listen to that album AGAIN now.

heh, re the "crack of dawn" line, an italian friend of mine also loves this album. one day we were listening to it together and he says to me "can you understand what he's saying there ? translate for me, i'm completely lost." let me tell you, that is not an easy image to transmit while maintaining a ladylike demeanor.

i've never heard anyone express things quite like him.

little bit o' trivia for you : i learned the expression "going to see a man about a dog" (which i try to use whenever possible, in english and french) from tom waits.
