Well, the lifespan of at least one Kindle 3 is now established at about 2 years. My K3 (3G) bought in late 2010 is now dying due to keyboard mechanical failure. Specifically the Home and Back keys make a nasty crunchy sound about half the time and work only intermittently. It's probably the circuit board substrate or some part of the key membrane in the process of cracking and failing.
So, I'd like a purely unscientific survey on what to replace it with. Personally, I'm leaning towards either a K4 SO or waiting a few months until the K3 fails completely and getting a Paperwhite. Please, no one use facts or logic in this thread, I'm only interested in opinions, bloviating and emotional whining here.
