Well... it's been several(almost 1/3 of a year actually) months now, and boy I CERTAINLY do NOT miss multi-tapping to get pages to turn.

I use the nook simple touch quite a bit, i.e. as often as I did my kobo touch, and I've had NONE of the problems with the nook that I did with the kobo touch. So much happier with the Nook Simple Touch that I wish that I had switched to a different brand sooner instead of futilely hoping for a fix via fw with kobo. (Of course I just did that with ATI too... awful drivers(and they're damned quick to drop support of GPU models)... back to nVidia and happier again.)
