If you were thinking about one of these devices (Paperwhite, Glowlight, Glo) I would wait until they all ship and can be compared. I expect B&N will be updating Glowlight to use 1024x768 screen, so I wouldn't get one of those now, even if you like the current model.
But the other aspect to Paperwhite is that it has capacitative touch, not IR. By all accounts it is much more responsive, doesn't have the shadow-casting bezel, and probably you can operate it in a ziplock for 'safe' bathtub and poolside reading.
