Yes. Everything starts with pencil. Then I draw a line at the "shadow line", and decide that everything on one side of it is black, the other white. Note that that "line" is complete arbitrary... do I want a mostly black drawing with just a few details hit by "light", or do I want a mostly white, with just a few shadows.

Then I actually draw it in pencil, erasing and adjusting liberally. Finally, I erase everything leaving faint outlines. I think erasing actually helps prepare the paper to accept the ink, but that's probably just my imagination. I use a "brush tip" ink pen.

The hardest bit of this particular drawing is her foremost (her right) shoulder, with the strap of the tank and the bra strap.
