Probably (depending on hardware and patience ), but on my 4GB Core i5 a 50K books library works just fine. Searches or looking for duplicates with the Find Duplicates plugin run in seconds.

Creating a somewhat complicated catalog is the one thing that runs into problems as it needs more RAM than my 32 bits Win7 can give it; the worker process blows up when it hits the 2GB process limit.
