You would be amazed how many people have been suggested as candidates for Jack the Ripper - the difficult part of setting that question was finding somebody from that era who hasn't been suggested!

I recommend the site, Casebook, for anybody interested in the many theories surrounding Jack the Ripper - largely well written without the tendancy to uncritically buy into too many of the lunatic theories around it (it pretty roundly dismisses Lewis Carroll as a suspect, for example).
