Some have done so successfully and others have experienced problems. And I'm not sure why this is the case. Except for the 512MB flash memory, the two units are identical. I know for sure that *MY* 64MB unit is having no problems since I updated it to the Build 708 fmt version. And my 512MB unit is as happy as a clam with it. Just so you know, I sacrificed my EB-100's original firmware to the Cybook firmware and it (a 64MB unit) is also running quite well under b708fmt. It may well be that those who're experiencing problems may have not cleaned up their filesystems before applying the updates.
