Thanks for your two posts, Jon. I've used calibre to convert a couple of ePubs I designed for the MobileRead library to azw3s, and so far I'm a little disappointed with their appearance. To me the line height looks awful, and some of the CSS effects which look good in ePub don't work at all. At least the azw3 files allow text to flow around images, which is something.

I also looked at your The War of the Worlds on my K3, and apart from the line height it looks good.

PS So far as I can tell the azw3 ebooks I converted from my ePubs open at the cover, just as the ePubs do.

PPS I accept without hesitation that I may not be using calibre correctly.
