That is why it's just getting the base of it. The original iPad started getting slow with iOS 5 and many people went back to iOS 4 for that reason. Same thing happened with iPhone 3G. The 3GS will be fine with most apps that are not games or use resources heavily, but it would cripple the first generation of the iPad which wouldn't be able to run tablet apps very efficiently anymore.
