There is a certain crowd here who would probably only read your instructions if they were in Comic Book / Manga format. Plain text is just too boring to bother with. People who CAN read but who CHOOSE NOT to read more than the minimum needed to get by, are generally referred to as "functionally illiterate". A README format more to their liking may actually get their attention.

And there is another crowd who would only follow your instructions if they were in a YouTube video. YouTube is so popular just because it is easier than reading.
