If you're reading and stop for a while until the screensaver pops up, sliding the power button returns you to the same spot in your book. However, strictly speaking, you can't turn off the K3. If you hold the power exactly 7 seconds, the screen goes blank. When you slide the power switch again, the screen comes on, and you're back in your book. That's as "off" as the K3 will go.
