A chance to upgrade/poach the other guys' customers versus the possibility of losing a few ebook sales. Shouldn't be hard for the beancounters to put a value on that.
Plus it undercuts B&N's Nook-exclusives efforts and strengthens the weakening "epub is a standard, really", argument. (Just sayin'.
