The Home button is a "special" button on all models. And would possibly mean some serious overriding - but I'm not sure of the total ramifications.
Others would probably know best, one of the principle discoverers of these things.
If it is truly wanted by either enough people or the right developer the work will be completed. This is the way with these things.
