The reason for no ePub support for the 500 is because the hardware cannot handle it. If the 500 could handle it, Sony would have supported it on the 500. Sony is not leaving the 500 users "high and dry" on purpose. It's that the hardware will not run the software. Sony would be cutting their throats by saying "yes the 500 can do it, but we don't care".
