I know how you feel, I have had that happen on a few occasions with different technologies that I have purchased. However unlike your situation I do not have a reader at this time, This announcement from Sony leads me to believe that they are making an honest effort to stay with it. And they didnt abandon the 500 I believe it was an internal memory issue that would not allow the update to the 500. But I know you will enjoy your Kindle I have yet to meet anyone that disliked it. With the exception of a few that had unreasonable expectations from the beginning. I wish I could have both. Maybe a Sony for my birthday and a Kindle for Christmas??? Again glad you are happy and enjoying the books which is all that matters.
