That's what I suspected, but calibre is not an android app so your post was confusing. Downloading calibre has nothing to do with android.

On Android you can use the Calibre content server to download books to your device one at a time via most any browser. Or you can get books to your device using the Calibre companion android App.

If you can't access the content server you have to be more specific about what problem you are having. Some android browsers have problems with the password authentication calibre uses, so turning off the password in the calibre content server might help.
