The stock market cares only about how much money Apple will make on the iPhone. Battery life is not on their radar.

It's the other way around. eReader began as Peanut Press, an early ebook publisher targeting the Palm platform, and the reader was Peanut Reader. Fictionwise bought eReader from Moericity and now owns the reader and the ebook catalog.
