LOL, does Wikipedia have a different account than my understanding of the story?
A Captain Wenberg suggested the dish to the chef at Delmonico's, who tweaked and put it on the menu as Lobster a la Wenberg and it was deservedly popular. Wenberg and Delmonico had a subsequent falling out, however, and the dish was pulled from the menu. When patrons objected, it was brought back, but as an anagram: Lobster a la Newberg.
I was only going for anagram; the rest is details.
