I don't know how widespread this behaviour is, but I can say that I have experienced it. I've had my Kobo Touch since November 2011. The odd behaviour:
When I use a finger to swipe from right to left, the page goes back instead of forward. In this instance, I have to page forward (tap or swipe) twice more to get where I wanted to go in the first place.
This oddity only occurs occasionally. I've learned to live with it, and it is just a minor inconvenience to me. I generally use tapping to turn pages, and generally only swipe less than ten percent of the time, so this issue doesn't come up that often. I have tried different ways of swiping, and swiped different areas of the screen, and I still can't predict when this faulty page turn will occur.
Summary: I've seen this faulty swipe behaviour. It only happens occasionally. I don't know why it happens. I don't know how to fix it. I can read happily, but with extra taps and swipes.
Also, this behaviour happens less frequently than dead screen taps. That's another reason why I can live with it. (eta - this behaviour has occurred on at least two different firmware versions).
