I ran into these the other day as one of my Amazon recommendations.
Wasn't sure what I'd found but they look pretty good, so I picked up four of the Inspector's series and two of the daughter's...never know when those prices will go up! Thanks for the background info on the author.

Another slightly oddball find I came across (via the UK thriller forums) is Desmond Cory. Apparently he's an Ian Fleming contemporary whose hero is Johnny Fontana. Anyway, the first in series is only .99 (and also a KOLL selection.)
[Yes, I know, not exactly Victorian 'tec related - just another cheapo trad pub find I'm not sure where to put...not necessarily separate-thread worthy.]

Dead Man Falling by Desmond Cory

A bizarre honeymoon plunges Fedora into the search for a disguised Nazi killer, a fabulous cache of diamonds – and an espionage plot so monstrous it will hold readers spellbound until the shattering climax.

“As one has come to expect from Cory, colorful action, copious carnage, elaborate intrigue, frequent surprises.”
New York Times Book Review

“Readers who like their thrillers to complement their intelligence must on no account miss Mr Cory.”
The Times
