Hah - I forgot that the conversation I'd had with davidfor was on PM!
It came out of a discussion regarding device drivers, and hence I went through the process to work out the device ID. David remarked that the ID on mine seemed to be for a different, older device. From that, I wondered if there may be a link between device IDs and why some folks have problems.

That is dramatically different from mine - I'll add it to the list, and wait for someone to tell us that it isn't the ID!

It is interesting - I would have thought it would be a bit more specific. However, my knowledge of Macs is slightly less than not much!
