Reader supports a Memory Stick Duo™ of up to 16 GB, that’s roughly around 13 000 typical books. It also supports SD memory cards . It is important to note that Reader does not accept the “full sized” type of memory sticks or adapters. [comment: I didn't even know 16 GB Memory Sticks exist. Who on earth would want to carry 16 GB worth of e-books around??? ]
I started using SD cards with my Sony PRS 505. With only 200 books on it, I had to recharge the reader every 3-5 days. On advice from this forum I got a Sony brand memory stick and copied all of my books to it. The copy from PC to eBook reader was faster than it had been copying to SD cards, page turns on the Sony turned faster, and now I can go weeks between battery charges.

I used a newer version of the memory stick. It's designated as "Sony MSMT1G 1GB Memory Stick PRO Duo (Mark2)," and it's rated faster than the first release. The advice I found on MR was that the old ones work much better with the PRS 505 than SD cards too, so either way it seems better to choose memory sticks.
