A couple of weeks ago we watched a live bird of prey show on Grouse Mountain just outside Vancouver. I recall that the presenter of that claimed that a vulture (can't remember the type) was the highest flying bird, one having been hit by a jet at it's cruising altitude (35,000 ft +).
